Water Improvement Project Update

The Town Council approved and signed a resolution accepting the bond necessary to finance the water project.

This 1.8 million dollar project will see the construction of a new water tank, a new plant and updating the water infrastructure in and around Town.

The current Water Treatment plant was built in the 1950s/60s and can handle approximately 135,000 gallons of water.

This development will see the installation of a new 200,000 gallon storage system which will be used in conjunction with the existing 100,000 gallon water tower.

The current plant runs between 16 - 18 hours a day treating the water while the new plant should run for 5 - 6 hours a day and treat the water more efficiently and to an even higher standard.

Gary Shuck, Town President said "The new plant should be better at taking lime and iron out of the water"

The water we drink in Town passes the quality control and state requirements for drinking water but with the new plant this quality will be even better.

It is hoped that this New Plant will provide up to 75 years of service versus the current one that will be replaced after around 50 years.

What is also a great benefit is that the new system can be added onto with extra storage tanks and new hardware to provide a solution that adapts to suit the demand the town will have in the future.

The new plant will be built at the existing plant site and could break ground as early as November 18th.

Shuck also hopes that within the year the gas rates will be lowered and possibly within two years the water rates can be reduced somewhat to lower the burden the town residents have to pay.
